ABOUT THE FOUNDER

Nicole Lanier Montez was born in Mt Vernon, a city in Westchester County, New York, with a 4.4 square mile span. Four Square Mile is a display of homage.
​
Montez's poetic career spans over three decades, during which Montez has written several poetry books and recorded a spoken word CD. Poems have appeared in various publications like The Anointed Path Magazine, The Vine Magazine, and Watts Winery Company; Dancing Vine, Cabernet Sauvignon. Book inclusions with the Library of Congress, Washington, D.C., Poets House, NYC, Mt. Vernon Public Library, Mt. Vernon, NY, and The Prince George’s County Memorial Library System, located in Maryland.

After being in the literary arts business for over three decades, Montez realized a need to increase the pool of poetic voices and readers of the written word. In 2015, Montez stepped into the role of poetry workshop facilitator, where she passionately promotes poetry to a bouquet of hues, races, host of genders, and cross generations in Maryland and abroad.
